Skinners – Splendid Tackle

What they say? Well, not a lot. I could find nothing about this on the brewery’s website. Obviously a Six Nations special, it was a little too fruity for me but after a long day it work it went down rather quicker than is usual even for me. Full of flavour but as regulars will know, not my favourite style of ale. 4.2% A.B.V The Spanish Lady, Saltdean, East Sussex. March 2017. Dog Friendly

Samuel Smith – Old Brewery Bitter

What they say: “Brewed using hard water drawn from the original well sunk in stone Yorkshire squares to create a full-bodied malty, toffee-ish tasting, creamy beer of unique character” And very nice it was too. Another great find whilst in Bristol however ale heads will know this comes from Tadcaster. Served from oak casks too.  4.0% A.B.V The King William Ale House , Bristol. February 2017. Dog Friendly

Beerd – Krampus

What they say: “A very dark, rich, chocolatey and silky smooth oatmeal stout with ginger, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon to give that Christmas pudding feeling.” When in Bristol etc. A great find during our prowl around the Old City but although it didn’t taste particularly strong, it weighed in at 5.8% A.B.V. So not one to mess with, but very enjoyable nonetheless. The Crown , Bristol. February 2017
